CAMPUS OF PERFORMING ARTS IN KENSINGTON

GSF Education cc was founded in 2001 in response to repeated calls for assistance to assist emerging and existing Music Industry programmes (providers) in their set up and Management of their programmes.

As founder and head of the Contemporary Music Department at The National School of the Arts, Garth Farrant co-ordinated, as deputy Chairman, all of the music programmes offered by Technical colleges in South Africa i.e. NOR, N2, N3 N4, N5 and N6.

Garth also served on two of the three Music SGB’s writing unit standards for the music industry under SAQA and is presently serving on the latest SGB finally delivering qualifications. He was also selected by the Minister of Education in 2002 to serve on the FET music writing team completing this work in 2003, the document was declared policy August 2003, and implemented in 2006.

GSF Education was born in 2001 and ran on a part-time basis. In 2002, GSF commenced as Private Institution with 30 full-time students functioning out of a home recording studio. In 2004, GSF purchased a property at 29 York Road Kensington and commenced the year with 60 full-time learners. In 2005 we registered Campus of Performing Arts as a legal entity and use this name as it speaks of our vision for the future. We are proud to say that COPA’S name is now well known and to date has 120 full-time learners going through our courses.
